The Edo State Governor’s Court confirmed Okpebholo on Monday as the official elected governor of the state. In a verdict on Monday, April 2, a three-member panel led by Wilfred Kpochi ruled that it was not justified to cancel the results of the gubernatorial contest held in the state on September 21, 2024.
The court’s dismissal was a lack of merit, a petition filed by the PDP and its candidate Asuerinme Ighodalo, aiming to challenge the Governor’s Okpebholo manifesto and become a valid winner in the Governor’s poll.
The Independent National Election Commission INEC announced that APC’s Okpebholo won 291 and 667 votes to beat his closet competition, Ighodalo of PDP, with a total of 247 and 655 votes.
The group dismissed the petition filed by AA and the app earlier today, challenging Okpebholor’s victory in the poll.
