Amotekun Corps arrests 28 suspects who kidnapped 70 foreigners in Ondo

Agents from Ondo’s national security network agency Amotekun Corps have arrested 28 suspects and allegedly kidnapped more than 70 Ghanaian nationals in the state.

The victim was lured to Oda Road in the southern local government area of Akur, a false pretending to secure a trip to Australia.

The group was exposed after one victim managed to escape and reminded the authorities. At this prompt, Agent Amotekun raided the hiding place, rescued the victim and arrested the suspect.

Adutunji Adeleye marched at the suspects and ammunition headquarters in Akure, where Akure details how the criminals deceived the victims.

“We have Ghanaian nationals invited to participate in fraudulent excuses. Upon arrival, they were blackmailed – some paid between $1,500 and $2,000 and could only be kidnapped and held in the ODA.”

Adeleye further revealed that the group forced victims to lure new recruits before allowing them to be released.

“Victims were told that they had to introduce more people before they were released. Fortunately, through our intelligence efforts, we were able to intercept and rescue them.”

One victim, Jeremiah Amoah, tells the story of his terrifying suffering.

“A friend convinced me that it was a real opportunity to travel abroad. But after they took my money, they locked me up and told me I had to take another person before being released. One night, when everyone was asleep, I managed to jump over the wall and escape.”

Amoah expressed his gratitude to the Amotekun Corps, noting that the victims may never be released without intervention.

The 28 suspects are currently in custody and authorities have conducted further investigations to ensure they face justice.
