INEC rebounded the petition to recall Senator Akpoti-uduaghan.

Nigeria News Nalin According to reports, the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) explained that the petition to recall Sen. Natasha Akputi Uduahhan of Kogi was denied because those who signed it were not 50% of the voters under the constitution.

In a statement signed by Rose Oriaran-Anthony, who represents the committee secretary, INEC noted that only 208,132 voters signed the petition, only 43.86%.

The constitution’s mission is that 50% of voters in the Senate District must sign the petition before processing it.

The number of registered voters in the Senate District is 474,554. The Committee insists that no further action should be taken on the petition.

INEC declared that the petition failed to meet the constitutional threshold required for this process.

The election agency disclosed the disclosure Thursday afternoon in an article on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

“The recall petition representing the District Senators of Kogi Central Senate has not yet met the requirements of Article 69 (a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)” INEC wrote.

The latest twist in the recall legend only submitted the details of the petition and the address of the petitioner just one week after INEC initially accepted the petition.

The INEC suddenly rejected the petition raised questions, especially considering that the committee confirmed a few days ago that the committee had moved to the verification phase to determine whether the petition supported more than 50% of the 474,554 registered voters in the Kogi Central Central area.
