Under CP Olohundare Jimoh, the Lagos State Police Command launched the state’s first National Police Week. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declares the first week of April each year as Police Week, and April 7 is National Police Day. This day is to honor the Nigerian police forces and to recognize their contributions to internal security in our dear country, Nigeria, and to maintain law and order nationwide.

The theme this year is inclusive policing: The panacea for improving safety and economic growth in Lagos, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts between security stakeholders and sister security services, said a statement from headquarters spokesman CSP Benjamin Hundeyin. National Police Week is a critical moment for Nigerian police forces to strengthen their ties with the communities they serve. This week’s celebrations are designed to recognize the dedication and commitment of our officers, while also promoting constructive dialogue with citizens and demonstrating the transformative work of the Nigerian police force.

Hundeyin mentioned that in order to meet the police inspector general IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the Lagos State Police Command launched the celebration today at the Computer Village in Ikeja on April 3, where free medical checkups, health check studios and mental health awareness programs are provided for Nigerians. Officers also conducted cleanups at some of the major parks, bus fields and markets ordered in 14 (14) districts of the state.

On April 5, a walking marathon will be completed. Hundeyin said the takeoff point will pass through the metropolitan main and strategic locations from the command headquarters of Ikeja at 6 a.m. This is to promote friendship, celebrate diversity, and strengthen confidence between the police and the people we serve.

Hundeyin added that the Lagos State Police Department invited and implores Lagos State and all security stakeholders to participate in the planned week-long event and enthusiastically attract their ongoing collaboration for their ongoing collaboration as the order is headed towards ensuring a safer and safer Lagos State for everyone.
