“Justin Soriano will serve his sentence for vicious murder of Shanice Young in a situation where it would have been a joyful and memorable moment and celebration,” the Prague District Attorney said in a statement.
“Soriano carried out this horrific shooting in front of four children, including Ms. Yang’s daughter, and they looked helplessly at their mother D!e.
His statement concluded: “I hope that the major judgments imposed today will measure the justice of such miserable and abominable acts of violence.”
According to the DA’s office, between 1:00 and 1:16 a.m. on September 21, 2021, Young celebrated the baby shower home with family and friends as the tragedy unfolds.
The expectant mother accompanied her two 15- and 6-year-old daughters, her 31-year-old male friend and his two 7- and 1-year-old daughters, and her male cousin.
A few hours ago, when they unloaded their gifts from loved ones, Soriano was riding a motorcycle while wearing all black clothes, face coverings and latex gloves, and equipped with latex gloves with guns.
Soriano returns to the front of the building after chasing his ex-girlfriend’s new companion around the apartment.
Young’s child was standing outside the car and she was sitting in the car while trying to reason with Soriano.
DA’s office said Young asked Soriano why she did this, instead of answering, but repeated her questions and began shooting her face at close range.
By the time the first responder arrived, Young seemed to show no sign of life. She was taken to the hospital, and she and her unborn child were declared de@d.
Soriano fled the scene after the shooting. He was found and arrested in the Bronx on September 16, 2021.
He was found guilty on all charges, including second-degree murder and weapons of second-degree crimes, among other charges.
