
On Friday, April 4, 2025, EFCC, AWOLOWO ROAD, AWOLOWO ROAD EFCC, EFCC, Lagos District Zonal Division Director, EFCC, filed former criminals, Folake Adeoti, before Justice Yellim Bogoro, Senior Federal Justice of Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, April 4, 2025.
She is facing trial on one count of Naira’s dismemberment.
Adeoti was arrested around Jobi Fele Way in Ikeja, Lagos on March 21, 2025 while holding Naira to note the tune of N3,850,000.00.
The allegation reads: “You, you, Folake Adeoti, on 21 March 2025, opposite the Regent Hall, Jobi Felé, Jobi Felé, Way, Ikeja, in Lagos, under the jurisdiction of this honorary court, within the jurisdiction of this honorary court, by N3,850,000.00 (N3,850,000.00) (N3,850,000.00) (N3,850,000.00) and this section, and the Central Bank is issued below, and the Central Bank is issued here, and the territory of the Central Bank is tried here. 21 (4) of the Nigeria Central Bank Act 2007.”
When she was read to her, she pleaded guilty to the charge.
After she pleaded guilty, prosecutor’s attorney ZB Atiku called on Usman Adamu to review the facts of the case.
Atiku filed a lawsuit of remorse from the defendant and the money recovered from her. The court acknowledged the documents and marked them as exhibits.
The lawyers informed the court that Adeoti “is a former criminal who tried on a charge of Naira’s abuse before Judge Ibrahim Kala.”
Justice Bogoro adjudicated the matter until May 2, 2025 to make the ruling, and ordered the suspect to be remanded in the correctional center.
In related developments, EFCC’s Lagos Regional Bureau 1 also arraised on a single charge involving the illegal sale of Naira notes before Justice Bogoro.
Adewuyi was arrested in Lagos along Jobi Fele Way on March 21, 2025, while Hawking Naira pointed to a tune of 1.6 million Dutch (only one million, only six billion naira).
The charge reads: “You, Modupe Adewuyi, on March 21, 2025, on Jobi Fele Street opposite Alausa Ikeja, Lagos, under the jurisdiction of this honorary court, engaged in the total of Hawk’s sum of 1,600,000 nigr by Niger by Niger by Niger and Niger and N5ia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N5iaia and N1000000 and therefore, according to Article 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Installation) Act 2007 violates Article 21(4).
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges as he read to her.
In view of her guilty plea, prosecutor’s attorney ZB Atiku called on EFCC operator Adamu Usman to review the facts of the case.
Usman told the court while detailing how he knew the defendant that the committee obtained an intelligence from open source intelligence on March 21, 2025 to illegally sell Naira notes in the Ikeja area of Lagos.
He further told the court: “After receiving the intelligence, a team of agents carried out an operation and Modupe Adewunmi was arrested on Jobi Fele Street opposite the Ikeja Regent Hall.
“She has two POS machines and was arrested for N1.6 million.
Atiku made the defendant’s statement and recovered the money from her. Therefore, she urged the court to rule on the currency of the federal government of Nigeria and ordered the confiscation of the money.
Justice Bogoro adjourned the matter until May 2, 2025, and ordered her to be remanded in the correctional center.
