Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti expressed support for Vinicius Junior after defeating Brazil’s Valencia 2-1 on Saturday.
The game was held in Santiago Bernabéu and saw Vinicius face criticism from home fans who booed him after failing to convert free throws in the first half.
After the game, Ancelotti addressed the media, highlighting Vinicius’ resilience and concentration, stressing that despite the enormous pressure and challenges he encountered, the young Brazilian was still committed to his game.
“Vinicius is focused on his work. He may have performed well, but he is focused on his role and responsibilities.” Ancelotti said that even in unfortunate moments, the players’ mental health deserves praise.
The manager also shifted the conversation to the current championship battle, acknowledging that Real Madrid faced growing difficulties in the La Liga championship match, with FC Barcelona leading by 4 points.
“It’s very difficult to fight for the league title now, but we’re determined to perform well until the end.” He said.
Ancelotti discussed the team’s challenges through penalties and pointed out that key players, including Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius, face their own struggles in free throws. “I tried to give Vinicis confidence, but unfortunately he missed this too.” He said.
Real Madrid is now four points behind Barcelona in the La Liga Championship due to a setback against Valencia.
