Police arrest three suspected kidnappers after Benue

Security agents have arrested three suspected kidnappers in the Otokepo local government area of Benue State.

The suspect was arrested on Sunday, April 6, 2025 around Ogoli-ugboju in the local government area.

The arrest was in the kidnapping K! A few days after Otukpo kidnapped 14 passengers.

The police cooperated with the National Protection Guard to rescue the kidnapped passengers within 24 hours.

The three suspects arrested are believed to be part of the big gang responsible for the recent kidnap in the area.

The suspects were identified as Ibrahim Salleh, Ashimu and Abuh Umaru, who were chased and arrested by security operators who received information about their whereabouts.

Maxwell Ogiri, chairman of Otukpo LG, confirmed the arrest and said two other suspects were still running away and security agencies continued to pursue them.

“We learned from the intelligence report that they were a gang of five kidnappers. Three were arrested. Security personnel were following the remaining two and their collaborators,” he said.

Catherine Anene, spokesman for Benue State Police Command, also confirmed the operation.

“As the operation in Otukpo is underway, I know some of the suspects have been arrested,” she said.

Recall that residents of the town of Otup last Tuesday held a protest calling for insecurity action against the area and neighborhoods.
