South-South Democratic Party (PDP) George Turnah accused supporters of Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri for murdering him and his family.
In a letter dated April 7, 2025, and to the President Ahmed Tinubu Through the National Security Advisor, Noah ribnuTurnah claims that his life is under threat due to growing rifts with Governor Diri, which he attributes to his political alliance with the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), New Vick.
Wike’s loyalist Turnah also announced plans to be held on April 12 at the Bayelsa chapter of New Associates.
He accused Governor Diri of cheering him on hostility, pointing to alleged remarks made at the National Security and Presbyterian Conference, and Turnah reportedly was labeled “the enemy of the state and the Iya state” to organize a rally to support Presidents Tinubu and Wike.
According to Turnah, Diri’s actions are linked to Tinubu’s recent declaration of a state of emergency, resulting in the governor’s suspension Siminayi Fubaraan Ijaw man in the River State.
“The urgent concern I wrote to you, after ideological disagreement with Governor Diri, about my safety and well-being,” Turnah wrote.Since being consistent with the FCT Minister, I have been threatened to my life from the governor’s loyalists. ”

Due to the alleged threat, Turnah revealed that he and his family fled their home and are currently hiding in an undisclosed hotel.
“This situation also caused damage to the mental health of my wife and children. Therefore, I urge you to intervene and protect yourself and your family,” Turnah appealed.
“In view of the current political climate and the increasing tensions in our party dynamics, I would like to urge you to take appropriate measures to ensure my safety and the safety of those who stand with me.,” he added.
This controversy adds a complex layer to Turnah’s public profile. In 2022, he was sentenced to four years in prison by Mohammed of Mohammed for allegations of corruption related to his tenure as former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). However, Turnah paid a fine instead of serving his sentence.
