Chelsea Legend John Terry has appointed four central defenders – in the past and present, he considers it the greatest in Premier League history.
In an interview with Sportbible, the former England captain was asked to choose his Premier League “Rushmore”. Not surprisingly, Terry included himself in an elite group.
Terry named Manchester United idol Rio Ferdinand as the highest level of consistency and numerous achievements over the years.
“I’m going with Rio de Janeiro,” Terry said. “I think longevity, playing at top clubs, playing big games year after year, and winning trophies consistently – he has it all. For me, Rio is 100% in the conversation.”
Chelsea Great also included Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk and Arsenal legend Tony Adams into the top four.
Terry, Ferdinand, Van Dijk and Adams are widely regarded as the best defenders of the league ever, each leaving a big mark on their respective clubs and British football as a whole.
