    • Ohanaeze Ndigbo has released a 30-day final pass to the Southeast Governor to address the escalating killings and insecurities in the region.

    • The group threatens to urge President Bola Tinubu to announce that if the situation is not resolved.

Apex Igbo social and cultural organization Ohanaeze Ndigbo has issued a harsh warning to the Southeast Governor.

The organization demands immediate action to address the growing insecurity in the region.

According to Ohanaeze, more than 300 people were lost in the first quarter of 2025 alone due to violence alone, a group believes this is mainly orchestrated by Fulani Herdsmen.

“We have condemned the silence of the Southeast Governor in the face of murder and widespread insecurity,” said Mazi Okechukukwu Isiguzoro, vice president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“Their inaction has to do with violence and governance collapse in the region,” Ohanaeze Ndigbo said.

Ohanaeze provides the governor with a 30-day final pass atum to remove the so-called killer herder from the area. If the governor fails to take action, the organization will seek to invoke article 305 of the Nigerian Constitution to declare a state of emergency.

“The situation has reached a critical point,” the statement said. “Defensive farmers are being blocked from entering their land, threatening food security throughout the region.

“The growing fear of our people has prevented families from returning to the upcoming Easter celebrations.”

The organization also expressed concern about the negative impact of insecurity on the region’s economy.

Many investors are becoming increasingly illusory about deteriorating conditions, and the Southeast is rapidly losing its position as a viable economic destination.
