Three headless decomposition bodies were found in a river in the Odigobo community in the Odebo Local Government Area of Odebo.
The bodies were found by locals who visited the river on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
Witnesses explained that the headless bodies of the deceased showed that they were brutal murdered by some people who threw their remains in the river.
A young leader who identified himself as Sileola was shocked by this strange discovery.
“I was shocked when I first heard it over the phone. I rushed to the scene, hoping to identify the victim by clothes or any other means, but all efforts proved to be abortion,” he said.
According to him, where the victims could be killed by the perpetrators, they threw the headless bodies into the community river.
However, he said there were no cases of missing persons in the community and said the incident had been reported to security agencies in the area, urging residents to report any strange movements in the community.
Ondo State Police Commander spokesman DSP Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed the incident in a statement Wednesday, April 9, and said an investigation has been made.
“Recently discovered that residents on a river in the Odebo area recently found three headless partially dissociated bodies, with deep concern about Ondo State Police Command,” the statement reads.
“This distressing discovery was immediately alerted by local residents to law enforcement. Preliminary observations suggest that at least one headless body in Hanoi may have been brought to the location where the discovery was made by an electric current.
“After the report was received, the responsible department police (DPO) quickly mobilized the scene and launched a coordinated response. Community leaders and local alerts have been working to assist with the potential identification of the body.
“Despite these efforts, it is important to note that there are no formal reports of missing persons related to the area, which further complicates the proof of identity.
“The remains have since been recovered for further examination and an investigation is underway. We urge the public to provide any information that may help identify the deceased or reveal the circumstances of his death.
“Ondo State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
We assure the public that we are doing our best to reach the root of this disturbing incident. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses. ”
