Lamidi Apapa declares himself the leader of the Labor Party after Supreme Court verdict on Julius Abure

Lamidi Apapa declared himself the leader of the party after the Supreme Court ruling fired Julius Abure as president.

In a recent ruling, a five-member Supreme Court overturned the ruling of the Court of Appeals in Abuja, who had earlier recognized Abuja as the party’s state president.

Apapa, citing a Supreme Court ruling, held a press conference on Wednesday announcing the acquisition of the party’s leadership. He believes that the court’s ruling has invalidated all actions and decisions made by Abure since April 2023.

In a statement signed by the main members of the Party – Deputy President (NLC) Mr. Ladi Iliya; Deputy Chairman (TUC), Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi; State Secretary, Al. Umar Farouq Ibrahim; National Legal Counsel, Barr. Oyelekan Akingbade; Dr. Abayomi Arabambi, Secretary of State Propaganda; Mrs. Oluchi Opara, State Treasurer – Apapa confirmed that the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) was established in 2022 on Monday, April 14, 2025.

    Declare read:

“After a cross-claim filed by former President Julius Abure, who was ousted on April 4, 2025, all actions and decisions he has taken since April 4, 2023 have been invalid.

According to the Supreme Court’s ruling, I, I, Alhaji Bashiru Lamidi Apapa, are the highest state official and, in accordance with Article 142(a)(b) of our party constitution, here assumes that our great party affairs, run with today’s great party affairs, and run with today’s Wednesday, April 9. Farouk Umar Ibrahim serves as State Secretary. ”
