    NBC bans Eedris Abdulkareem’s protest song “Tell Your Papa”

    NBC bans all Nigerian radio stations from broadcasting new songs on Eedris Abdulkareem’s politically charged, Tell your dad, Over-focus on its content.

    The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) formally bans the latest protest songs of Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem, Tell your dad, Broadcast from radio stations across the country.

    In a letter dated April 9, 2025, regulators believe it is a politically fraught song “Not suitable for broadcasting,” Quote Section 3.1.8 of the Nigerian broadcast code. NBC said the content contained in the track was considered offensive and urged the station to maintain responsible broadcasts by avoiding playback.

    “The National Broadcasting Commission has identified Eedris Abdulkareem’s song “Tell Your Papa”…the content deemed unsuitable for broadcasting,” The letters were read, warning stations against the broadcast of the song.

    Finally, neither Eedris Abdulkareem nor Seyi Tinubu responded to the ban at the time of this report.
