“Tinubu’s Government as One of the Most Insensitive Governments” – Eedris Abdulkareem Smoke on NBC Ban

Senior Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has slammed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) orders to limit the broadcast of his controversial song “Tell Your Papa”.

Naija News Reports recently released songs targeting the president’s son Tinubu BallSeyi, called on him to face his father in the face of a worsening socio-economic situation in Nigeria.

In the title track “Tell your dad,” Abdulkareem shared a blunt message on Sunday through 𝕏 pointing out the current difficulties faced by many Nigerians.

Abdulkareem rapping, “Seyi, tell your dad country hard. Tell your dad people to die. Tell your dad that this person is through Jagajaga.

“Seyi, how far? I swear your dad didn’t try. Too many empty promises. On behalf of the Nigerian, convey our message to him; the kidnapper Dey killed the Nigerian.

Seyi, try to travel without security, making you feel the pain of Nigerians. You’ll drive a private jet, feel insecurity, it’s your problem. ”

In a memorandum of April 9, 2025, released by Susan Obi, coordinating director of broadcast surveillance, NBC banned Nigerian Radio and Television Stations from broadcasting the trend song, citing its offensive nature.

The Commission declared that the track was not broadcasted under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigerian Broadcasting Regulation (NTBB), prohibiting broadcasting on Nigerian Broadcasting Platforms in public.

Although the song has been popular on social media platforms, its lyrical content failed to meet responsible broadcast standards, according to NBC.

    Edris’ reaction

Eedris responded via his Instagram page that Eedris criticized President Bola Tinubu for banning his songs, noting that his administration has always regarded constructive criticism as a major crime.

The singer asserted that Tinob’s government was one of the most insensitive, striking and serious malicious executives ever to preside over Nigerian affairs.

He wrote, It is clear that in Nigeria the government always regards truth and constructive criticism as a major crime, and the current government led by President Bola Tinubu is now recording the record, one of the most insensitive, defensive and serious malicious governments of all time to preside over Nigerian affairs.

“In less than two years of presidency, the results were shocking in every way.

“Well, I’ve been on this road before, because it reminds me of the ban on the song “Jaga Jaga” by the Obasanjo government 21 years ago!

“No wonder why Nigeria has not made progress over the years? Conscience is an open wound and only truth can heal it.”
