    Three brothers in Niger State within two weeks

    The Lapai community in Niger State was mourned after the heartbreaking D3ath of three brothers from the same family in just two weeks.

    The tragic incident shocked residents, involving drowning and fatal sports injuries.

    The latest incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, April 10, 2025, when two brothers, Ismail Alaba and his siblings were said to have drowned in the Katcha River.

    It is said that the brothers bought a bag of rice in the event of an unfortunate accident and wanted to go home.

    Witnesses indicated that their canoe may have been tilted, resulting in a fatal result.

    Before the drowning incident, the family had lost their firstborn in their recently-dead eldest son.

    He reportedly suffered severe injuries in local football matches and succumbed to his wounds despite his efforts to save him.

    The late Ismail Alaba is well known in the Lapai Community.

    Ismail is described by many as cheerful, hardworking and socializing, running a prosperous point of sale (POS) business located at the low cost junction of Lapai.

    His sudden D3ath and his brothers sent shockwaves throughout the town.

    Residents continue to pay tribute and condolences to the grieving families, who are now facing unimaginable losses.

    Community leaders call for prayer and support for those who are bereavement, and also urge caution and safety in their daily activities.
