Ondo State Police Command has arrested the main suspects related to M8rder of businessman Alhaji Awoyinka Sumaila.
Command spokesman DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola disclosed this in a statement Friday, April 11.
According to PPRO, the suspect Ijalo was arrested in Osogbo after a cautious investigation.
“The Ondo State Police Command made a major breakthrough in the murder of famous businessman Alhaji Awoyinka Sumaila on March 1 this year at his residence in the ore on March 1,” the statement said.
“After a careful and thorough investigation, the commander arrested an ijalo ‘M’, who was allegedly a resident of Osogbo on 10/04/2025.
“The arrest was conducted with tough pursuers leading agents back to the ore, and while searching for the suspect’s house, locally made pistols were found and criminal charm was used in the murder case.
“The Chief of Police, Ndo State Command CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi praised his soldiers for their diligence and reiterated the command’s firm commitment to ensure the safety of all residents.
“He assured the public that in the state of elimination of the criminal elements, there will be no stones again, with the focus on intelligence-driven policing.”
According to a source in the community, the incident happened shortly after the deceased left the mosque after praying for Ramadan.
