Seven commuters, including commercial bus drivers and his passengers, were Klled in the explosion on Maiduguri-Damboa Road, whose vehicles passed through the improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Boko Haram terrorists on Saturday, April 12, on the shabby and deserted roads of Sambisa Forest.
The explosion occurred on a scheduled military-compatible convoy transported passengers from Damboa to Maiduguri on Saturday, while several other people were injured in varying degrees, according to several sources.
Maiduguri-Damboa Road connects Maiduguri to several local government areas south of Borno and has been a hot spot for Boko Haram terrorists.
The road is closed to vehicles and commuters until the government of Governor Babagana Zulum travels to Damboa, Chibok and other LGAs for passengers and serves as a safety cover for commuters with the help of the army.
After the military scanned the IED, the convoy crossed the road twice a week, which has been going on for more than two years.
The injured person has been transported to a hospital in Maiduguri for quick treatment.
