A group of unidentified young people were seen destroying a large billboard that hung on Saturday in the river Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his supporter Chijioke Ihunwo.

Naija News The incident was captured in viral videos, raising questions about the state’s growing political tensions, the report said.

The video surfaced online, showing four young men tearing up billboards that highlighted Fubara’s face and former chairman of the Obio/Akpor local government district of ihunwo.

Although the exact location of the incident could not be confirmed immediately, the large billboard overlooked a busy road.

In the video, one of the young men is heard instructing others to tear off the billboard from a specific aspect. “Even from the bottom, it will tear off from there. I’ll bring new ones.” He said pointing out plans to replace billboards after they are cancelled.

Another voice from the group seemed to greet “glorious” as it continued to destructive behavior.

Female voices were also heard in the background. One of the young men climbed onto the billboard and began to tear off the material, while the others followed suit. The video lasted about three minutes and showed the young man gradually pulling down the billboard until he was completely naked.

This vandalism may be related to the ongoing political crisis in River State, a sign of an extended power struggle by Governor Fobara and his estranged godfather, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike.
