
Christian Chukwu, former captain and head coach of the Super Hawks, died. News reporters gathered that the former Enugu Rangers coach died in his hometown of Enugu at the age of 74 in the early hours of Saturday.
However, the exact circumstances surrounding his death are not yet clear.
Odegbami, who won the 1980 Cup of Africa’s Cup of Nations, wrote: “My chairman is gone.
Chukwu was born on January 4, 1951 and served as the Nigerian national team between 1974 and 1980, and was then known as the Green Eagles. Chukwu won the first African National Cup of Nations championship in 1980 and finished second in 1976 and 1978.
The Enugu-born legend also led the Enugu Rangers FC team to win the 1977 African Cup.
Chukwu also served as assistant coach of the first team, winning the FIFA World Cup trophy in Nigeria – the Golden Eagles that won the victory at the FIFA U16 World Cup in China in 1985.
He is also the team’s assistant coach, marking the Golden Generation, the 1994 Super Eagles, and Nigeria is eligible for its first FIFA World Cup final.
