A man, who has not yet been confirmed, was reportedly forgotten on Saturday, April 12, allegedly attempting to steal a statue of the Agemo deity erected on Folagbade Road in Mafowoku Roundabout, Ogun State Ijebu Ode.
Ijebu-Ode residents are said to have woken up on Saturday morning. On April 13, the golden Agemo statue commissioned about 21 years ago has been deleted, while a young man suspected of deleting it was found lifeless next to the statue’s remains.
A viral video shows a man in a blue top motionless, away from the statue of the fallen god.
Hakeem Quadri, a resident of Ijebu Ode, confirmed the incident.
“The incident was real; it happened in front of my home. We all heard people making noises, and when I got outside, I saw the agemo statue commissioned about 21 years ago being deleted and the person suspected of the sagile act was hit.”
“I learned that the dead body had been moved to the morgue.”
