The accident occurred on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in the Uduma junction area of Umbourg Community.

According to the gathering, the bus carrying about 25 people, including children, lost control and collided with another vehicle while driving through sharp turns at high speed.

This effect caused the bus somersault three times, causing serious injury to passengers.

The victim was taken to the David Umashi Federal University Teaching Hospital in Umbourg by locals in the community.

AgwụNwogo, a public relations official at Dufuth, said in a statement Monday that the natives living in Eboni, Imo, who lived in Okporike, Abakaliki, returned to their station after a funeral in Okporike, Abakaliki.

Nwogo said the hospital activated an emergency response program to provide care for victims of road accidents, adding that the two were confirmed dead on arrival, while the other 23 deaths suffered serious injuries, including hand injuries, fractures, tear, severe traumatic brain injury.

“As of now, 18 patients, including drivers, are receiving treatment in the accident and emergency department, surgical ward and intensive care units in Dufuth,” he said.

“After receiving treatment, four patients with minor injuries were stable and discharged.”

However, an 11-month-old child suffered severe brain damage and was still in critical condition and is currently admitted to the ICU, where he was supported by an artificial respirator due to respiratory failure.
