Former President Goodluck Jonathan encouraged Nigeria’s governor and aspiring leaders to draw on Governor Alex Otti’s performance in Abia State, calling him a blueprint for effective governance.

In his speech, Jonathan described Otti as a leader whose tenure was a vision and tangible outcome.

“Governance in Nigeria should be prompted by what happened in Abia – the leadership’s intention is to achieve real change. Nigerian leaders should follow the example of Governor Oti,” Jonathan said through his representative.
He also spent some time praising the Uniport alumni network’s presence in various departments and noting the agency’s unique contribution to the Nigerian leadership landscape, he trained six governors and later vice presidents.

He outlined some of his government’s achievements, noting that 200 primary health centers and 221 schools were being renovated in 184 wards in Abia.
The governor further highlighted the state’s investment in human capital, noting that 20% of the annual budget is for education, while 15% belongs to health.
According to him, this allocation reflects a deliberate commitment to the future: “not negotiable” investments to people.
