    18-year-old Nigerian-American girl accepted Harvard, Yale and four other Ivy League universities

    18-year-old Nigerian-American girl accepted Harvard, Yale and four other Ivy League universities

    Osariemen Unuigbe, the 18-year-old daughter of Nigerian immigrants, has been accepted to six Ivy League universities in the United States, including Harvard and Yale.

    Dr. Augustine Unuigbe, Ph.D. and (Madam) Florence Unuigbe from Edo State University, attributed to her dedication and outstanding academic record.

    Her family said: “We are so glad, surprised, but absolutely delighted. We can only give God all the glory to this great miracle.”

    Currently a senior at Egg Harbor Township High School in New Jersey, Unuigbe has a strong academic background and is unwaveringly committed to advanced research.

    She has also been admitted to a highly selective governor’s school in New Jersey and has held several leadership positions.

    Outside the classroom, she plays hockey and is passionate about dance, painting and painting.

    In recognition of her achievements, she has been 100 Black Women in Southern New Jersey, Inc. The National Alliance was elected as the “Rise to Top” scholar in 2025.

    According to the Open Door Report on International Education Exchange, in the 2023/2024 academic year, the enrollment rate of Nigerian students in American universities and universities rose to 20,029, marking a 13.5% increase over previous years.

    “Nigerian students bring rich diversity, perspectives and academic excellence to the American campuses, enriching the educational experience for all,” the report said.
