
The landlord, who is currently running away in the dispute that allegedly worked with four other people to fatally attack its tenants.
The suspect, identified as Crispen Marara, was linked to the death of 38-year-old Tendai Ninguwo, who died on Sunday, April 13 at Chitungwiza Central Hospital after the attack.
The incident reportedly originated from a $560 disagreement allegedly collected from other tenants living in the Zengeza 1 property owned by Malala’s parents. Tendai is said to have failed to remit funds, but instead converts them to personal use.
“Police are investigating Zengeza’s murder,” Harare Provincial Police spokesman Luckmore Chakanza confirmed. “The deceased reportedly used the defendant’s money. The deceased died on April 13 when he was admitted to Chitungwiza Central Hospital.”
Marara reportedly hired four unidentified people who attacked him with a broom and fist. Teng Dai was later hospitalized and reportedly suffered persistent chest pain before his final death.
Tendai’s sister Yvette Masango expressed the grief of the family and shared details of the consequences. “We lost a loving brother. He always complained about chest pain after the attack. He told me he was unwilling to submit a report with the police. Because he was a person at fault. He was deported for unpaid rent,” she said.
Tendai has two children, the eldest son of the current seventh grade. His family announced plans to bury him in the village of Chihota.
Authorities are appealing to the public for information on any potentially leading to crisper malalas and those involved in deadly attacks.
