The Joint Admissions and Admissions Committee (JAMB) has issued a warning to candidates for the 2025 Unified Level 3 Entrance Examination (UTME) to understand the circulation of fraudulent information designed to defraud and fraud.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in JAMB spokesman Abuja, Fabian Benjaminclarified that the board is not responsible for the messages, which were sent by suspicious scammers.
Fraudsters have been using numerical variants of the UTME code of 8863 and combined with the board’s short code 55019 to create a deceptive message format that mimics JAMB’s official communications system.
Benjamin explained that the information of these scams falsely claimed that there were differences in the details of candidates’ JAMB registration, urging them to connect with certain people who promised to resolve the so-called problem.
He strongly advises candidates to ignore these fraudulent information because they are part of a common plan by which the fraudsters use individuals during the exam to exploit individuals.
“We want to emphasize that these messages are not from JAMB. Security agencies have received notifications and are actively following the perpetrators behind this scam,” He said.
“Candidates are strongly advised to ignore such information. This is a common tactic adopted by fraudsters who try to use the exam period to deceive and deceive innocent candidates. ”
Benjamin further urged the public to be cautious and to carefully check any information they received. He advised that any communication that does not follow the official JAMB channel or includes suspicious instructions or language is deemed fraudulent.
