Candidates can sit down to take the exam anywhere in Nigeria - JAMB

The United Government and Admissions Commission said its candidates are free to take exams anywhere in the country.

Examination agencies responded to misleading publications of the UTME exam, which inaccurately claimed that candidates could not be checked outside of registration status.

Public Communications Consultant JAMB, Fabian Benjamin, revealed this on Wednesday, while responding to a misleading publication on the UTME exam that inaccurately claimed that candidates cannot be checked outside their registration status.

Mr Benjamin said the information spread by the news media was incorrect.

“In a recent interview with NAN reporters, I clarified that candidates are not limited to checking within the registered state. They have the flexibility to register anywhere in the country and choose any town in the country from any registration point.

“For convenience, according to towns, the computer-based testing centers will be gathered so that candidates can choose the towns that they wish to take the exam.

“For example, if the candidate chooses Garki as the exam town, they must take the exam there, not as per so-called, or be posted to another town.

He added: “It is crucial to correct this misunderstanding to prevent confusion from candidates.

He further noted that candidates are free to choose test towns from anywhere in the country, regardless of their registration status.

“For example, candidates can register in Lagos and choose to take the exam in Sokoto or any other location.

“This flexibility is designed to adapt to candidates’ preferences and ensure they can choose a convenient location.

He added: “We urge the public to ignore Nan’s entire report.”
