Mr Kumar Sanda said hundreds of alleged Boko Haram members have been arrested in Lagos state, Lagos.
Kumar spoke at the awards ceremony in Lagos on Wednesday, April 16.
The CJTF commander highlighted the ongoing efforts of CJTF to prevent Boko Haram insurgents and bandits from fleeing the north into Lagos.
He said arrests were made regularly in trailer parks, quarries, markets and other locations, and people from the north were known to arrive in Lagos.
“If I were to mention the number of Boko Haram members we were arrested in Lagos State, people wouldn’t believe it. But we’ve arrested thousands of people.”
“CJTF monitors trailer parks and quarries and checks truck carts because we understand their channel into Lagos. Our people must be on alert. Not all Abokis are bad, but not all are good. We are committed to getting Lagos out of Boko Haram and Banditry and Bastitry.”
He added: “Boko Haram has no field in Lagos State. The Chief of Staff of the Governor of Lagos State has been in touch with us to make sure people sleep with their eyes closed.”
Kumar claims that many of the rebels and bandits are non-Nigerians who infiltrate the country’s borders and pose as citizens.
“Whenever you see a man from Borno State, you may be scared by Boko Haram,” he said. “But many of the ones you see are not real Nigerians. That’s not to say there are no Nigerians among them.
“The fact is that Boko Haram originated in the state of Borno, and we monitor individuals in Borno, Lagos. We know when newcomers are coming because we tracked the truck route. One person from Borno can identify others from his status; so do the natives in Kano and other states.”
