Haley Joel Osment may soon face criminal charges after being arrested at the Mammoth Ski Resort in California earlier this month. The actor was detained on April 8 when authorities received a call before 2 p.m. reporting that he was allegedly drunk at the resort.
According to official documents obtained by TMZ, ski patrol personnel were already paying attention to OSMENT when law enforcement arrived. He was subsequently arrested for public intoxication and possession of controlled substances. Authorities have sent the substance to a laboratory for analysis to determine its specific properties.
Osment was booked and released later, awaiting whether the Mono County District Attorney filed a lawsuit.
Sources close to the actor show he has been under tremendous pressure in recent months. Osment reportedly lost his home and property in Altadena Wildfire and has encountered ongoing difficulties with its insurance providers, including the recent refusal of alternative residence claims.
This is not the first brush for the actors’ legal issues related to alcohol. In 2006, under influence, Osment was involved in a serious crash, and his vehicle injured his shoulder and ribs when it hit a brick strut. Later, he did not defend the charges of DUI and marijuana possession and sentenced him to include three years of probation, alcohol consumption, mandatory AA meeting and a $1,500 fine.
The Shan County District Attorney’s Office has not yet officially announced the prosecution.
