No less than 390 repentant Boko Haram members from Gombe State graduated from the federal government’s de-stimulus, rehabilitation and reintegration program.
Defense Staff General Christopher Musa said during his graduation Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Malam Sidi in the Quami Local Government Area of Gombe State.
He said that the graduating clients arrived at the camp in July 2024 and carried out various reconstruction activities for the program, which reshaped them and were ready to reintegrate them into society.

Colonel Abiodun Johnson, commander of the DRR camp, said the client formed six foreigners and 384 Nigerians who were recovered and ready to reintegrate.
“A further breakdown of 390 clients shows that 13 clients from Adamawa, one from Akwa-ibom, one from Bauchi State, 218 from Borno from Borno, one from Cross River, one from Edo, five from Gombe, five from Jigawa, and Jigawawa,” Johnson said.
“The other 15 from Kaduna are from Kano State, 14 from Kano State, 7 from Kasina, three from Kebbi, five from Nasarawa, five from Neger, one from Osun, two from Oyo.
“Four from the plateau, five from Sokoto state, three from Talaba, 47 from Yobe and eight from Zamfara.
“Foreign clients include one from Cameroon, one from Chad, and four from the Republic of Niger.
“Again, six clients are Christians and 384 are Muslims. This information is crucial to managing the planning and reintegration process.”
He explained that in the DRR program, clients are trained in a variety of choice skills, from welding, tailoring, carpentry, bakery, laundry and electrical repairs, among others.

The camp commander said the client had acknowledged his past, condemned members of the rebel group and swears allegiance to loyal, obedient and responsible citizens.
Mrs. Zubaida Umar, Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, said the federal government is committed to addressing the country’s insecurities.
Umar commended the resilience of the armed forces in their use of dynamic and non-dynamic approaches in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
She praised President Bola Tinubu for his political will and approved the expansion of OPSC to cover six geopolitical regions, especially in the case of including the Northwest and the establishment of DRR camps in Zamfara state.
Umar, represented by NEMA Search and Rescue Director Air Cdr. Abang Oyong, donated food and non-food to customers.
According to her, the items will help stabilize them after the DRR program and allow them to reintegrate seamlessly into society.

Donated items include 400 bags of rice (25 kg), 400 bags of corn (25 kg), 400 bottles of vegetable oil, 40 cartons of seasoning and 40 cartons.
The others are 20 bags of iodized salt, 400 bath towels, 800 plastic boards and 800 plastic spoons.
