A gunman reportedly approved Thursday on the campus of Tallahassee Florida State University.
At least four people were hospitalized after a shooting near the student union on the campus of Tallahassee Florida State University (FSU).
The FBI responded to the scene, and a spokesman for the Tallahassee Police Department confirmed to Tallahassee that the suspect was in custody.
At 12:30 p.m. ET, the university issued an emergency alert urging all students, faculty and staff to be protected in place.
“Dangerous Situation: There is an active shooter in the student union area. Police are on site or on the way. Continue to seek asylum and await further instructions. Lock and stay away from all doors and windows and prepare for other protective measures,” the alarm was issued at 12:30 pm on EDT.
In the update alert at 12:50 pm. EDT, the University said: “This is an emergency information on the Tallahassee campus of Florida State University. Continue asylum in place. Police have responded to the student union’s proactive shooting call. Please stay alert for more information.”
“TMH is actively receiving and caring for patients related to the events at Florida State University. At present, details are still unfolding and we have no specific information to share. However, we want to assure the community that our team has been fully mobilized and ready to provide the highest level of care and support for all affected people,” Tallahassee Memorial Hospital said.
“We maintain close coordination with emergency responders and public safety officials. We will provide the latest information as soon as possible out of respect for patient privacy and ensuring accurate information. We ask you for patience and compassion during this difficult time.”
