The Central Northern Region Police Command has arrested 42 people for his involvement in prostitution and drug-related activities in Ayamfuri, central Ghana.

The group includes 32 Nigerian women, young Ghanaian men suspected of engaging in prostitution and believed to be involved in drug peddlings.

The suspect was arrested in an intelligence-led operation on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

According to DCOP Abraham Acqaye, commander of the central North Police, some suspects were arrested during the alleged operation in hot spots, while others were arrested.

The suspect was found between the ages of 20 and 32 and had various items, including dried leaves suspected of being Indian marijuana, considered a mixture of Indian marijuana, condoms and cigarettes.

In the initial inquiry, some suspects claimed to be victims of human trafficking.

According to them, they were tempted to have a promise of justified employment but were later forced to engage in prostitution upon arrival.

Others revealed that they were forced to work under exploitative conditions to pay off debts owed to traffickers, and traffickers demanded large amounts of funds before they were released.

    Police are investigating.
