DIY Glasses: Step by step instructions
1. Collect your materials
First collect all the supplies you need. Most items can be picked up in your local dollar tree or any discount store. In my case, I already have a hot glue gun, remaining spray paint from the previous project, a piece of ribbon and an old cardboard box sitting in the recycling pile.
2. Cutting cardboard foundation
Pick up the cardboard and cut out a circle that will serve as the basis for the spoon of flowers. Don’t emphasize the perfect circle, I’m not, it turns out to be pretty good. As long as it cycles relative to it, it’s OK. The size depends entirely on the size of the last piece you want. For reference, my cardboard circles are about 14 inches in diameter, which gives me a nice bold size without being too big of a wall.

3. Break the spoon
Now is the satisfying part – break the plastic spoon. This step can actually be a great stress reliefer. The goal here is to remove the handle, leaving only the bowl (spoon) and a little bit around the neck. The easiest way to rest I found is to place each spoon on a soft surface, such as a piece of waste cardboard with a bowl facing down.
Then, apply a firm pressure on the handle near the neck. Most of them should be captured cleanly, giving you only the parts you need. Don’t worry, if the spoon bowl breaks or breaks during the process, it will happen. Just put them aside and keep moving forward. You may have enough work ability.
4. Start glueing spoons
Now it’s time to bring the flowers to life. First, heat the spoon around the outer edge of the cardboard circle. Work inward and layer them slightly when layering them slightly. Make sure to leave enough space in the center so that it can be installed later. Take some time in this regard. The more evenly you place them, the better the final look.
5. Draw your flowers
Once all the spoons are firmly glued underneath, your frame should start to look like flowers. Take it outside or well-ventilated areas and spray the whole piece. Use smooth, even through to avoid stacking heavy paint, especially in spoon bowls. Try covering the cardboard completely and beware of small paint puddles that form. Allow it to dry completely before processing.
6. Attached mirror
Once the paint has completely dried, put your project back in it and glue the mirror directly to the center. Press it gently and make sure it is safe. At this point, your DIY mirrored flowers should blend well together.
7. Add a hanging loop
Cut a small piece of ribbon to form a loop. Flip the flowers and hot glue the ends of the ribbon to the back of the cardboard, positioning them where you want them to be on top. This loop will act as a hanger, so make sure it is safe and centered.
8. Hang to death
That’s it. Your spoon glass is ready to shine. Hang it on the wall and enjoy your work. Whether you are decorating a dormitory, apartment or cozy corner, this project adds creativity and personal touch. It’s a way to attract attention from roommates, friends and anyone who has walked by.
With just a few simple materials, a little patience and some creative energy, you’ve made something completely unique, your own spoonful of glasses. It’s more than just decoration. This reflects your personal style, wit and ability to turn everyday objects into something beautiful. That’s the magic of DIY. You don’t need a lot of budget or fancy tools, just take a little time on your leisurely Saturday afternoon and be willing to try something new.
Projects like this remind us that creativity does not have to be complex or expensive. A pile of plastic spoons, some spray paint, mirrors and glue guns, turned a blank piece of cardboard into a bold and eye-catching wall. The best part? Now you have a handmade decorative item that stands out in a world full of things that are mass-produced. Whether hanging from your dorm, apartment or home office, it is guaranteed to spark some conversation and even inspire others to pick up the glue gun and start creating.
Also, to be honest, it is really satisfying to make something from scratch and see it step by step together. That ribbon on the back is not only for hanging the mirror, but also reminds you that you built it. So keep going, hang on it, take a moment to appreciate it, and enjoy the fact that you have made great. It is not only a mirror, but your mirror, and it also makes it a kind of.
