Former Kenya lieutenant Governor Caleb Amaswache is now selling firewood in Luanda Town to earn a living and pay bills.
Former County Deputy Governor Moses Akaranga served.
Citizen TV caught up with him in Luanda, working on the business of providing firewood to various hotels.
He noted how life walks in the park after leaving the office, which was not worth it after he became the deputy governor.
He added that he could not afford to pay the bill, including catering for his children’s education.
“I need a job. I asked his Excellency William Ruto to consider those in a given accidental government. We are all Kenyans and the president should take care of us all.”
“I don’t have enough capital. I have a daughter going to school and I need KSH.200,000 to start.”
All he left was his portraits of him and senior government officials who were mixed with him at their heyday.
This reflects his experiences during his administration and after he lost power.
Amaswache noted that his past attempts to apply for work were futile, citing his application not shortlisted for the ongoing interview with the Independent Elections and Borders Commission (IEBC).
He warned current leaders of respect for others, stressing that power is short-lived.
He added: “My advice to those in power is to respect and protect those who were in office before. You can take office today, and you can’t do it tomorrow.”
“When you are in power, everything looks glitz-like and everyone respects you, but when you lose power, you find a true reflection of things. People won’t answer your calls because they don’t need you.”
