Federal Capital Territory Minister NYESOM WIKE said he expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s support for the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers, citing it as a necessary step to ensure stability.
Vick said in a statement released during a media interaction with specific journalists in Abuja on Friday that the relocation of the governor Siminayi Fubara Crucially, asserting that the state’s political unrest has reached a critical point.
Naija News Wike, who was the governor of Rivers State, defended the actions of President Tinubu’s moratorium on Fubara, his deputy Ngozi ODU, and state legislators following the political crisis a few months later.
According to Vick, the president’s intervention is crucial to avoid further chaos in oil-rich states.
Wick also praised the appointment of the sole administrator to oversee the state’s decision, describing it as a step in the right direction. He stressed that the appointment would help restore order and bring stability to the rivers after the political turmoil in the Fubara government.
He said “As a politician, I declared unhappy with the urgent rule of Rivers State. I hope to evacuate the governor directly. But, for the good of the country, the President did the right thing to prevent anarchy in the state.
“But, people have to tell the truth. The governor is gone. He is gone, yes… so when people say the president does that, I say they should praise him.
“Every morning, they should go to the president and ask, ‘Can we wash your feet and save us?
“Mr. President came in and saved the situation and lifted the river people out of disaster and anarchy.”
