
The Lagos State Police Department arrested two suspected robbers who allegedly tried to attack the owner of the Wood Island estate in Ikorodu Ishawo area of Lagos State.
Punk reported that about 100 houses were demolished after suspected robbers invaded the estate last year.
The thugs allegedly made another attempt on Thursday, April 17, but they face resistance from the estate owners.
A police source told the publication that it led to their arrest and the weapons were restored.
“Angry homeowners and others mobilized themselves to prevent land speculators from taking over the area again, and they demolished more than 100 homes.
“One of the people identified as Rasak Segun was arrested in an attempt to escape through a white pistol that was escaped through a neighboring estate through a member of Vigilante. He was taken to the Owutu Police Station,” the source said.
Police sources further revealed that the suspect admitted to members of the Isavo community that he was mobilized by Aja.
Another person is said to have been arrested in the community, with three pump guns hidden in Toyota Corolla cars.
“The driver and some others were in the car. Sensing the danger, the other occupants fled the scene, but the driver was arrested and handed over to the police.
“The vehicle was thoroughly searched and three guns and various charms were recovered,” the source added.
Command spokesman CSP Benjamin Hundeyin arrested the suspected robber to a journalist on Thursday.
He said: “Friday, April 11, around 7:25 pm, the complainant in the Owutu area of Ikorodu reported that a Segun was suspected of seeing Segun.
“He couldn’t be satisfied with himself when he was questioned. However, he was searched, a pistol with two rounds of live ammunition was found in his schoolbag.”
He added that the investigation is underway.
