Former Labor Vice Presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has advised President Bola Tinubu to avoid seeking reelection in 2027, noting that his tenure has risen.
Baba-Ahmed, who appeared on prime time on TV shows on Friday, stressed that all the APC rulings should have recognized that they will be defeated in the 2027 election.
“I hope Tinubu is that smart politician who will throw away the towels,” Baba-Ahmed asserted that he stressed that both the president and the APC’s signs clearly show that their chances of winning in 2027 are slim.
Naija News Baba-Ahmed reportedly scanned Tinubu’s political strategy, ironically calling him a “super clever politician” who planned political moves from the controversial presidential election from 2007 to 2023.
He mocked Tinubu’s political exercises, saying, “He skipped 2007, jokingly made the Atiku (Presidential) candidate Rabad and 2011 in 2015, made Buhari in 2015, and then skipped 2019 and they stole 2023.
The LP Chief showed that Tinubu’s strategy led to his election success due to public dissatisfaction, which would backfire.
According to Baba-Ahmed, two possible candidates may defeat Tinubu in 2027. “It has been proven that APC is a lie.”
Baba-Ahmed noted that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government has not fulfilled its commitment to the Nigerian people, especially in areas of development, security and anti-corruption efforts. He further criticized Tinubu’s opportunity, saying, “Buhari did not develop Nigeria, Buhari did not provide security, Buhari did not fight corruption. Neither Tinobu would do that.”
Nigerians will unite to vote for bad leadership
Labor’s vice presidential candidate predicted in 2023 that APC suffered losses in the 2027 election, expressing confidence in the Nigerians’ united vote for what he called “bad leadership.”
Baba-ahmed foresaw a change in the country’s political landscape, with citizens gathering together to practice democracy and hold leaders accountable.
“I saw APC lose this election. I saw Nigerians unite in some way and listen to what people like me say, if you can’t practice this, democracy is not for you, and then Nigerians will decide to show up for the first time and practice democracy, and then bad leadership can start in Nigeria without a hidden place,” Baba Amed said.
He asserted that the 2027 election would mark a turning point in Nigeria’s democracy, with citizens opposing bad leadership.
