
A fatal accident took the lives of a couple and others in Oke Akure.
The accident occurred on the Itava Banna axis on Itava Banna Road on Friday, April 18, 2025.
According to multiple witnesses, the crash involving commercial tricycles and trucks was caused by the reckless driving of two drivers.
Witnesses revealed that the husband and his wife have not yet been formally identified among the deceased.
The third time the victim gave up the ghost when the two victims were on the spot.
The remains of the tricycle, known as keke napep, have been cleared from the scene.
According to the gathering, the truck driver fled immediately after the crash to escape an angry mob, but later handed over himself at the Department B police station in Ao Aro.
The tragedy aroused the anger of residents, who went to the police station, threw stones at the police station and demanded justice for the victims.
In response, police agents fired tear gas to disperse protesters, a move that would only exacerbate tensions in the already thrilled community.
After the chaos, several commercial tricycles were said to have been seized by safety operators.
The victim’s bodies have since been deposited into the morgue, even though the investigation into the accident continues.
