‘Tinobu won the whole of Europe when Nigeria bleeds”

Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), criticized the deteriorating situation of the Nigerian president’s handling.

Naija News The report said Atiku condemned Tinubu’s failure to address the recent violent attacks in Benue State that killed scores in the Gbagir community in the Ukum Local Government Area in a post on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

According to the former Vice President, the Tinob administration has once again proved that it is totally incompetent, totally incompetent, and has completely failed to resolve any consistent concept of the deep security crisis in Nigeria.

He expressed frustration at what he said was a lack of empathy and obvious leadership during the suffering period of the country, stressing that Tinob was excited throughout Europe when he was bleeding in Nigeria.

Atiku cited the examples of former U.S. President Barack Obama, South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa and former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, who gave up their official missions during a crisis and returned home.

He insists that Nigerians deserve to be present, responsive and responsible leadership regardless of political affiliation or background.

Statement reading“Tinubu government has proved time and time again that it is totally incompetent and completely without any unanimous ideas to deal with the deepening security crisis in Nigeria. It is not only my position. It is not only my position—it is an increasing consensus among political opposition leaders, in respect of security, even in the ruling party, they cannot speak this statement, but in the public context, it is my position.

“The blood of innocent Nigerians continues to be filled with horrible regularity – the recent logo and Gbagir community of Ukum LGA in Benue State, Tinob’s presidency remains unsettling, showing neither urgency nor basic examples of public empathy.

“The leader demanded to be present. In 2016, President Barack Obama made an important diplomatic visit to return home after being killed in a lonely gunman attack. In 2019, President Cyril Ramaphosa returned to Egypt in the power crisis, returned to Egypt, and returned to South Africa in a power crisis. Even U.S. Senator Ted Crimz, who was criticized by Ted Criver, eventually committing a Texs in Texs, and was criticized by Mexter again in the winter.

“In our own history, President Goodluck Jonathan returned from Equatorial Guinea in 2014 after a deadly bomb explosion in Abuja. This is the expected minimum for the national trauma moment.

“However, President Bra Tinob was unable to address the worsening of Nigeria’s insecurity and chose to be brave throughout Europe – in the absence of Nigeria, as if from the sights of residence during the holidays.

“I sincerely mourn the people and government of Benue State. We stand with you in sorrow and unity.

“The powerless government may not suddenly discover the capacity. But we won’t stop calling it out. If Tinubu can’t provide security and dignity for Nigerians, then the least he can do is pretend to take care of – no race, religious or political affiliation.”
