Contrary to widespread reports, the report is the rise of a new terrorist group in Kwara State, and security sources confirmed that no such group appeared.
The picture is called “Mahmouda“Not the leader of a new group, but an experienced Boko Haram commander operating under the umbrella of the rebellious network.
According to intelligence, Mahmouda, a longtime Boko Haram surgical worker, initially fought in Borno State before relocating to Kaduna, reportedly working with terrorist Kingpin Sadiku.
Later, he moved into the Shiroro and Rafi districts of Niger State, in line with the remnants of extremist group Darul Salam. There, he recruited local young people and enforced radical laws, especially against Fulani herders.
Recent intelligence suggests that Mahmouda has now moved some combatants to the forest area bordering the state of Kwara, where he has formed alliances with bandit groups already active in the northwest. These developments do not indicate the birth of the new terrorist faction, but rather expand the scope of Boko Haram’s operations through cooperation with local criminals.
This clarification follows a series of denials by the security agency. When intelligence analyst Zagazola Makama initially drew attention to the terrorist movement entering Kwara, police authorities dismissed the report as a sirens.
However, the recent attacks and confirmed presence of rebel agents in the state have prompted a review of security responses.
“Now, the police will say that what they deny has started to happen? “A senior security source said.
Security analysts call for immediate government intervention to prevent further grasp of the agents connected to Boko Haram in northern Nigeria.
They suggested strengthening intelligence gathering, deployment of special forces and active counterinsurgency efforts in forests across Niger and Kwara states.
Experts warn that without action, it could turn Kwara into another hot spot in Nigeria’s ongoing battle against the rebellion.
