Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former special counsel for political affairs at Bola Tinubu, announced that the North will soon decide its political direction before the 2027 election and asserted that no presidential candidate could win without the support of the region.
In an interview that was rampant on social media on Sunday, April 20, Baba-Ahmed highlighted the growing political awareness in the north, and the region refused to support candidates who failed to understand or meet their challenges.
Baba-Ahmed appeared with Professor Usman Yusuf, former executive secretary of the National Health Insurance Program, highlighting the impact of insecurity, especially the damage caused by Boko Haram, and stressing that northerners will no longer support leaders who ignore their plight. He said the North was tired of being marginalized and warned that if this neglect continues, there would be serious consequences.
“If they plan to drive an election, they should be careful. This will be bad for Nigeria.” He also announced that the North will become its political position within the next six months, and the rest of the country must align with it or act in its own way.
Baba-Ahmed, who previously served as a spokesperson for the Arewa Elders forum, then joined the president and resigned, expressed his commitment to rejoining the Northern Liberation Movement. He stressed the importance of solidarity among all groups in the region – Muslims, Christians, Fulani, Baju and Mangu – and warned against internal betrayal.
In the era of Boko Haram attacks reflected in the past, including the campaign of former President Muhammadu Buhari, he recalled the goal of churches and mosques to destabilize the area. He said the North has gone through hardships under the past and present governments, has become more politically conscious and needs leadership that truly understands its needs.
“Injustice and bystander must stop,” he said. “The North is watching, and soon, our elders, our masses, our interest groups will say ‘enough.’ He said, “The bad elections in 2027 may lead to the end of Nigeria, I swear to God.” ”
He confirmed that the elders and stakeholders in the north were preparing for a position, and the time for action was approaching quickly. “There’s a while when we’ll come out and say it’s OK, and it’ll be fine soon. This injustice is over. We know who we are.
