Gunner kidnapped seven passengers in Kwara

The gunman ambushed a Toyota Sienna passenger car, headed from Abuja to Offa, and kidnapped seven passengers.

The kidnapping occurred between 5pm and 6pm on Saturday, April 19, 2025 on Obbo-aiyegunle/OSI Road in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

However, the kidnapper is exempt from three children traveling with the kidnapped parents.

The administrators of Olumoh Express Offa, the transport company where the victim boarded the plane, reported the incident to the incident.

To date, all attempts to rescue victims in the local area have not been successful.

Mr. Mukaila Ogunlade, secretary of the transport company, confirmed the incident.

“The incident did happen. Actually, we were just from the OSI police station. The bus left the park with five passengers, but the oldest of the kids left behind told us that two people later joined them on the way. Currently, we are looking for seven people,” Ogunlade said.

A spokesman for the State Police Commander SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed the kidnapping in a statement Sunday.

“According to the report, an armed gangster of about eight people intercepted a Sienna bus, registered an FFA 50XD, headed from Abuja to Offa, and forcibly kidnapped seven crew members, including the driver,” the statement said.

“After receiving the message, police agents worked with local alerts to respond quickly to the scene.

“The vehicle was reclaimed to the nearest police group. During a coordinated search of surrounding bushes, three children aged between 2 and 12 were found and rescued safely.

“One of the children was able to provide police with details about her guardian, who had contacted her and the three rescued children were reunited with relatives.

The command said it strengthened its efforts through careful investigations, intelligence gathering and ongoing bushes to track perpetrators and ensure safe rescue of the remaining victims.

Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo reiterated the command’s commitment to safety and protection for all residents, urging those with useful information to report through established channels at the State Police Command.
