Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of trying to invade military aggression on cross-bank lines, trying to create a ceasefire.
In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Zelenskyy mentioned the report of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, detailing the ongoing hostilities of Russian troops at 6:00 a.m. local time.
“In all front lines, there have been 59 Russian shelling and five Russian attacks,” Zelenskyy said.
His remarks came only one day after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a temporary “Easter truce”, claiming that all military operations will be suspended from Saturday to Monday to Monday to 6:00 pm British time.
However, between 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Russian troops carried out 387 shelling incidents and launched 19 attacks, according to Zelenskyy. He further revealed that Russian drones were deployed 290 times during this period.
He added: “In the Kursk region, Russian troops carried out shelling and used drones.”
Zelenskyy criticized what he said about Moscow’s efforts giving the false impression of respecting the ceasefire, even if its military continues to operate in certain areas.
“Overall, as of Easter morning, we can point out that Russian troops are trying to create a general impression of a ceasefire, while in some areas the attempt to facilitate and cause losses to Ukraine are still continuing. Russia must fully comply with the conditions of the ceasefire.”
The Ukrainian leader also reiterated Kiev’s willingness to commemorate and expand the real truce, announcing that Ukraine’s proposal will last for 30 days around midnight after tonight, with Ukrainian proposals still open.
“We will act according to the actual situation in the local area,” Zelenskyy concluded.
