President Tinob reportedly met with London’s hanging river governor Fubara.

Nigeria News Nalin The report said President Bola Tinubu recently met with Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara in London.

according to Africa Reportboth of them are looking for a solution to the ongoing political tensions in oil-rich countries.

The meeting was held quietly shortly after the president left Paris and was not yet public.

The Governor Fubara was suspended on March 18 after the Rivers State declared a state of emergency, reportedly requesting the meeting.

He reportedly showed interest in returning to the position and was said to be willing to accept certain conditions to regain his position.

Sources close to the presidency have indicated that discussions are still underway, and hope that the suspension of Fubara can be cancelled by the initial six-month deadline.

The possibility of Fubara joining all the Progress Conference (APC) is also part of the negotiations.

Political analysts say such a move could improve Tinob’s chances of winning River State in the 2027 election.

However, developments with former Rivers Governor and current federal capital minister Nyesom Wike are not going well.

He was reportedly not invited to the meeting and was said to be uncomfortable with the arrangement.

Tinubu is expected to hold a wider meeting that includes Fubara, Wike and state legislators to end the state’s crisis.

In March, when two oil pipelines exploded, the crisis deepened, leading to a state of emergency.

The explosion was blamed on a dispute between Fobara and lawmakers loyal to Vic, who accused the governor of breaking the constitution and supporting the move to remove him.

The decision, after the emergency statement, was named the country’s sole executive, and a decision sparked sharp criticism from trade unions, opposition figures, legal experts and civil society groups.

Many describe the move as an attempt to control river states before the 2027 elections.

Despite leaving the office, Forbala called for peace and urged the people of Rivers to continue to support Tinub.

Weekly protests and legal actions in the state have continued since he paused.
