An 18-year-old man was identified as Amanam Bassey Abraham and was arrested by a man from the Akwa Ibom State Police Department for illegally possessing a locally made pistol.
Command spokesman DSP Timfon John said in a statement released that the arrest was announced after reliable intelligence.
During the trial, the suspect claimed that the gun belonged to his landlord, which allegedly belonged to his landlord as collateral for the loan, according to the statement.
“On April 18, 2025, at about 4:00 pm, the command’s operators arrested Amanam Bassey Abraham, an 18-year-old male from Akpong Village.
A search of the suspect during the arrest resulted in the recovery of locally made pistols.
In the initial trial, the suspect claimed that the gun was collateralized by his landlord (name but unknown) for the N5,000 loan. He also said he planned to hand over the pistol to his father for custody. ”
DSP John further revealed that an investigation has been conducted to identify and arrest the above-mentioned landlord for inquiries.
