President Bola Tinubu privately met with London’s suspended river governor Siminalayi Fubara.
According to the report from Africa, the meeting was held at the insistence of Governor Fobara to bring the river state back to the road to peace in a way to restore the river.
The meeting will be the first since Tinubu suspended Fubara and invoked a state of emergency on March 18.
A presidential aide who was reluctant to meet confirmed that the meeting actually happened, adding that it was intended to restore peace in troubled oil-containing communities.
The president’s aide said: “The meeting is part of the president’s efforts to find lasting solutions to the ongoing political crisis in the region.
It was also collected that Fubara’s estranged political godfather, the federal capital’s territorial minister, was not part of the meeting, and reportedly uneasy about such discussions without him.
However, Tinubu is expected to meet with members of the state capitol building in Fubara, Wike and Rivers to list lasting solutions to the state’s political crisis.
This new development was ahead of that after an earlier meeting between Nyesom Wike and lawmakers who were loyal to him between lawmakers at the River State Capitol in London.
