Operation Lafiyan Jama’a’s forces repelled militia attacks in the Teegbe community, the Plateau State area of the Bassa local government area, neutralized a suspect and arrested two other suspects while pursuing the neighboring Kaduna state.
Intelligence sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 that troops responded to distress calls around 9 a.m. after the attack on the community.
Upon arrival, the troops hired the attackers, who fled to Baduru Sama in the Kauru local government area of Kaduna State.
During the popular hunt, contact with the fleeing suspect led to neutralization of a militia member.
Further operations in the area resulted in the arrests of two suspects, Sani Adamu, 40, and Buhari Mohammed, 20, who are both considered members of the local robber band.
The troops also retrieved the sum of 42 stole cattle and N20,200 from Zhonghe suspects.
However, two residents of the Teegbe community were confirmed dead, while the other had persistent gunshot wounds and were evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A soldier, identified as Corporal of Lance, Tope Awoniyi, was also injured during the encounter and has been taken to the 3rd Division’s medical services and hospital for further treatment.
The arrested suspects and the items recovered are under detention for further investigation.
The morale and combat readiness of the troops remain high, while action continues throughout the region to prevent further attacks.
