Gunner kidnapped 14 passengers on Benue Road

The gunmen kidnapped 14 passengers along the Makurdi/Naka/Adokaro area in Benue State.

The incident occurred between 10:00 and 11:00 on Thursday, April 24, 2025, about three kilometers from Naka (headquarters of the Western Government Region of Gwer, Benue State).

According to commercial drivers who did not want to mention for safety reasons, the vehicles involved were picnics and salon buses. Each carries 12 passengers.

Secretary of the National Highway Transport Workers Union, Yakubu Onu, senior unit, confirmed that the incident occurred to Punch

One of the vehicles left Makurdi and headed to Lokoja on Thursday morning when they were ambushed by gunmen near Naka, ONU said.

He added that the second vehicle ambushed at the same location came from Ankpa to Makurdi of Kogi State University.

“The first car was to Lokoja, where there were nine passengers on board, six of whom were kidnapped and taken to the bush. The second car came from Ankpa and came to Makurdi, where eight passengers were kidnapped at the same location near Nagorno-Karabakh. ” he said.

NURTW senior unit Scribe said three passengers were exempted from vehicles heading to Lokoja, and the driver of the three passengers went to the Naka Police Department to report the incident.

The driver called and told us that he was asked to move on after he held a report at the Nagorno-Karabakh police station, but we did not hear from him. ” Onu said.

It was also confirmed that the kidnapping kidnappers, the traditional ruler of Nagorno-Karabakh, said Daniel Abomtse, said the gunman ambushed two commercial vehicles and left with some passengers.

He said an old woman, a breastfeeding woman, some of the driver’s children were kept by the gunman.

“This incident took place at the OKPA near Adoka and bordered by Gwer West LGA, where an ubiquitous space around the area has become a paradise for criminals,” the monarch said.

Traditional rulers identified some unhuman rights spaces that were once a paradise for criminals, calling on the federal government to order an aerial investigation into the coastal areas of Benue and Nasalava.
