On Friday, April 25, Justice Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court sat in Ikoyi in Lagos, remanded in custody of singer Terry Alexander Ejeh (also known as Terry Apala) at the dismemberment center of alleged Naira bills.

On Friday, April 25, 2025, he was arraigned by the EFCC Economic and Financial Crime Commission’s Regional Bureau No. 1, asking him to weaken the Naira bill.

The charge reads: “That you, TERRY ALEXANDER EJEH, on the 5th day of January, 2025, at La Madison Place, Oniru, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, whilst dancing during a social event, tampered with Naira notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by marching on the same and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.”

When he was read to him, he pleaded not guilty to the crime.

In view of his plea, prosecutor’s attorney Si Suleiman prayed for the trial date and urged the court to send him back to the correctional center.

Defense attorney Felix Nwabuda informed the court of the bail application dated April 23, 2025, and prayed that the court would be the short-term date for the trial.

“In praying for the short term for hearing bail applications for the court, I will be eager to indulge the court to release the defendant to the defense.

“We promise to raise him in court. He will not evade hearings. He came in from the UK on April 23, 2025; he was alone at the invitation of the EFCC.”

However, prosecutors opposed the application, saying: “The application is strange and unheard of.”

“I urge the court to give us the opportunity to view the application and respond correctly so that the court can make a sound ruling,” he said.

In a brief ruling, Justice Aruco refused the application for defense.
