During a major operation, the Oyo State Police Department discovered a human trafficking ring in the state capital Ibadan and rescued 83 people, including a child.

Police revealed in a TERSE statement that victims believed to be nationals of the Democratic Republic of the Congo were lured to Nigeria in disguise.
The perpetrator reportedly ransomed large amounts of money from the victim’s parents and relatives as part of a meticulous plan.
The rescued person is currently at the police headquarters in Ellier, Ibadan, and authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the full details of the case.
Meanwhile, Jola Ogunlusi, former state secretary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), died at the age of 91.
The senior journalist died after a brief illness.
In a statement issued by family representative Gbenga Aruleba, Ogunlusi’s death was announced in deep sorrow, but also thanks for his influence and long-lasting life.
The statement reads, “With profound sorrow but thanks to God for his fulfilling and fulfilling life, the Ogunlusi family announced the death of our beloved patriarch, father, grandfather and uncle, Mr. Jola Ogunlusi, who left this life at 9:54 am on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 9:54 am.
